The eyes as a conduit to becoming one with one’s environment in nature’s telling of time and place.
“A photograph is to the eyes what words are to an experience.”
Vicki Nicholls
Choosing the lens.
How, where, what, when, and why.
From this photographer’s eyes camera lenses focus to imitate, as closely as possible, my natural vision.
I know what captivates me. My introspective nature leads me in the why and how I strive to record my immersive experiences. I remember the feelings first evoked by what lies ahead, behind, and in my peripheral, near and far.
Figuratively. Symbolically. Metaphorically. Introspectively.
To each, his own.
I have purposefully chosen a selection of unaltered images for your viewing experience. What you see, is what I shot.
The first one, taken at the end of my visit to Kinderdijk, Netherlands sums up my experience.
Some were taken looking backwards, others while looking ahead to what I was approaching, others from the right or left, or through a different perspective.
Perhaps you will discover a mood and narrative within yourself as you spend time by windmills and water.

What is the purpose of photography?
Why does one choose to attempt capturing a moment of time?
Where is the best place to stand for connecting sight and heart?
How does slightly, or, progressively altering a vantage point affect the initial eye-catching perspective?
When does one notice what lies ahead, behind, beside, near, or far in the midst of an experience, if at all?
What does it mean to feel a oneness with one’s environment?
How does oneness exhibit itself?
I know what captivates me.
I understand the whys of how I strive to observe a scene, a landscape, so that I may recollect the feelings first evoked by what lies ahead, behind, and in my peripheral, near and far.
Nature in my soul.
Like drifting clouds shift in shape and degree
by fierce or gentle wind currents, perceive.
Dark and foreboding or soft fluffiness
a mysterious blanket, thoughtfulness.
Nature in my soul.
Like flowing water creates, by degree,
evolving landscapes in newness, perceive.
Rushing, rippling, or peacefully smooth be
below undercurrents bide time, perceive.
Nature in my soul.
Figuratively. Symbolically. Metaphorically. Introspectively.
To each perspective, one’s unique perception.
To each perception, one’s unique perspective.
To each experience, one’s unique interpretation.
